Mike and Jonique were casually hanging out at home one Saturday discussing Mike's upcoming retirement from the US Army. Joking about opening their own business, Jonique offered up opening a bookstore because who doesn't love books?! And here we are....
Mike is from upstate New York and served our country as an officer in the US Army for the last 20 years. He spends his free time working with wood in the garage and tending to the yard. He is a huge Buffalo Bills fan and loves to enjoy a glass of bourdon at the end of the day.
Jonique is from Oklahoma, a former police officer, and currently works as a program analyst. She spends her free time working on Cotton & Lime, reading books, and enjoying wine on the deck. She is a steadfast Denver Broncos fan and a mom of one.
Mike and Jonique live in Montclair, VA with their dog, Henry; cat, Tom; and son.
People ask how we came up with the name "Cotton & Lime", so here's the story. Once upon a time, Jonique read a book called PAPER by Mark Kurlansky. (It's a whole book on the history of paper, which was incredibly fascinating, and I loved it.) In the book, it discusses the use of cotton by British papermakers' to make paper and that they would sometimes add lime to whiten the cotton pulp (pg. 187). Thus, Cotton & Lime was born. Books...paper...get it.
What's a nookshop then? Well, Cotton & Lime is a bookshop for the community. A place for the community to gather and socialize...a place that is safe to be who you are.
Hi, I'm Cotton! I am a Red Fox and I love to read books! I read everything, but really like books about foxes. I can be shy, but books help me learn new things that I can share with new people. Check out my recommendations to find something new for you!
It's time to order your subscription boxes for the upcoming season.
